  • Success for our Thames Valley School pupils

    Published 23/03/22

Huge well done to pupils at our Thames Valley School in Reading for winning the Amber League trophy in Reading Football Club Community Trust’s prestigious SEN Tournament earlier this month!

This was the first time pupils had played against another school in two years, due to the restrictions imposed following the pandemic. So, the nine players were very eager and had been training hard for this 6-aside tournament.

The dedication and team work shown by the pupils made it hard for the head coach, Mr Obrien, to choose who should be captain of the team. So, instead, he awarded the captaincy to three students to share (Dominic, Noah and Nicholas). They did a brilliant job encouraging the rest of the team, who all played a vital role in the team’s success.

  • A novel way to mark World Book Day – Thames Valley School take reading to the extreme!

A novel way to mark World Book Day – Thames Valley School take reading to the extreme!

Thames Valley School got out and about in the name of literature with an ‘Extreme Reading Challenge’ this World Book Day.

Whether indoors, on the seashore, or reading to a horse…staff and students were challenged to ‘get caught’ reading in various places over half term (photo evidence required!). The more unusual the location, the better. Staff and students competed in two separate categories. Our three favourite photos from each will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.

We were really impressed by the weird and wonderful results! The winners will be announced shortly. In the meantime.

  • Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice

    Published 04/03/20

Across all of the National Autistic Society schools, we are following closely the advice and guidance issued by Public Health England and The Department of Education in regards to the risk posed by Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are frequently assessing and updating our position in line with the official response; our students’ welfare remains our priority first and foremost and we will keep you updated of any necessary developments.

Please refer to the latest government guidance for any concerns and queries you may have.

This can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

The Department of Education have setup a dedicated helpline to answer questions about Coronavirus (COVID-19) related to education.

Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

    Phone: 0800 046 8687
    Email: DfE.coronavirushelpline@education.gov.uk
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)

To help prevent the potential spread of any infections, including Covid-19, Public Health England has launched the Catch it, Bin it, Kill It campaign. Using a tissue to catch a sneeze, binning the tissue and washing your hands is the best way to stop the spread of any germs or viruses. We would ask all parents, carers and their children to follow this good hygiene to stop the spread of germs.
