Success for our Thames Valley School pupils
Huge well done to pupils at our Thames Valley School in Reading for winning the Amber League trophy in Reading Football Club Community Trust’s prestigious SEN Tournament earlier this month!
This was the first time pupils had played against another school in two years, due to the restrictions imposed following the pandemic. So, the nine players were very eager and had been training hard for this 6-aside tournament.
The dedication and team work shown by the pupils made it hard for the head coach, Mr Obrien, to choose who should be captain of the team. So, instead, he awarded the captaincy to three students to share (Dominic, Noah and Nicholas). They did a brilliant job encouraging the rest of the team, who all played a vital role in the team’s success.
Miss Lucy Daniells, PE Lead at the NAS Academies Trust’s Thames Valley School, said: “A huge well done to all our players and to all the young people from other schools who made this tournament such a brilliant event. And thank you to Reading FC Community Trust for making it possible.
“At Thames Valley School, we have incredibly high ambitions for all our pupils and I’m really proud of everyone involved in the team. It wasn’t just their football skills, their wider conduct on and off the pitch was also impressive. In particular, it was just brilliant seeing everyone encouraging and communicating with each other so effectively.
“Everyone is very excited about competing in the Green League at the next tournament.”
